Why did you choose Citigroup Global Markets Japan?
My major at university was computer science, but while I was a student I developed an interest in finance and started trading in shares and currencies. My reason for choosing the Business Technology Organization at Citigroup Global Markets Japan was that I wanted to find an overlap between finance and computer science. Also, working here as a chance to learn about systems development for both the Japanese and the U.S. financial industry.
What has impressed you most during your time in the company so far?
Shortly after I completed my training I was assigned to a trade confirmation system development project. My supervisor told me to try and complete the task on my own, so it was a real challenge. It was so rewarding when that first confirmation arrived from a client. It was a short project of three months, but it was a valuable experience. The confidence gained by racking my brain and succeeding with the development project formed the foundation for the work I’m doing today.
What are your dreams and hopes for the future?
Now I want to deepen my knowledge of both finance and IT so that I can get involved with the development and operation of derivative analysis systems and trading systems. There are many excellent engineers in this company and their level of expertise always impresses me. I hope to work with my colleagues abroad so that I can gain more experience and improve myself further; I think it would be really stimulating and rewarding to work alongside the IT staff at Citi offices overseas.
