The Fixed Income Products has two main job roles: Sales and Trading. Each role shares the same training program and attracts similar types of candidates.
Fixed income salespeople deal with a wide range of institutional investor clients, such as banks, life and non-life insurance companies, investment management companies, as well as government organizations and corporations. The salespeople build solid relationships with clients by leveraging all the resources available at Citigroup Global Markets Japan.
Traders buy and sell securities for clients in the midst of changing market conditions. To do this successfully they have to manage long and short positions, anticipate market movements and manage risks associated with their exposure to interest rates, credit spreads and other factors. Given our significant capital base and extensive distribution capabilities, few competitors can match our capacity to undertake any size of trade in bond markets throughout the world.
You will begin by participating in a four-week orientation program in our Tokyo office. You will learn Japanese business manners and will also be introduced to all the divisions within Citigroup Global Markets Japan. Following orientation, you will rotate through the divisions to learn each division’s unique roles and functions.
We also have an in-house program called the Mentor Program. Your mentor will provide you with medium-term guidance.
After the training programs in Tokyo, you will attend our world-class Citigroup training program at overseas. This course will provide you with a solid grounding in all the key subjects required for the securities business, including regulatory framework, accounting, analysis, systems, and so on. You will also acquire skills relevant to Sales & Trading, including the equity and fixed income businesses. There are several exams for certain industry registrations. You are required to pass all the exams while attending the course.
You will be able to meet other Sales & Trading trainees from around the world on the program, which is a great opportunity to build a global business network.
After completing these training programs, you will be assigned to a specific department. The assignment decision is based on your preference, training performance and our business needs.
We are looking for undergraduates in all subjects, but preferably with knowledge of and interest in financial markets, current affairs and macro-economics.
We seek people with the following traits:
